Have you thought about how your beliefs can influence your life? if you have not, I want to invite you to do so.
Every human behavior derives from the person's core beliefs, which means, that a person will behave according to his/her most central ideas about themselves, others, and the world. Our core beliefs are the structure that define our daily experiences.
The key point about this is that most of our beliefs exist in the subconscious level and sometimes they sabotage our dreams. But believe it or not, all of our beliefs have a positive intention. Behind every belief there is a value that supports it; the value is like the fuel that feeds the belief and gives it emotional meaning. A good way to identify your beliefs and values in a specific situation is by asking yourself "why?" and "what for?" The "why?" will lead you to the belief and the "what for?" to the value. For example, a person wants to become a volunteer for a homeless shelter: why? because helping people in need is mandated by God (belief)... what for? to alleviate people's suffering (value: compassion).
There are no good or bad beliefs, I prefer to call them self-limiting beliefs and positive beliefs. But the most important thing about this matter, is to be able to identify our beliefs and to be aware about how they are affecting our lives, especially knowing that you can always change them. Some examples of self -limiting beliefs are: "I can't express my opinion", "I can't be a good mother", "It's impossible to make good money and being honest", "It's difficult to be happy in life". One key to find self-limiting beliefs is paying attention to those behaviors that start with phrases such as, "I must ..." or "I have to...". For example: "I have to help people"; The challenging question, in this case, will be: What would happen if you don't do so? on the other hand, we also have many positive beliefs that help us achieve our goals, such as, "Everything happens for my goodness", "I am capable of doing great things in life", "People always like me", "Others will help me".
To summarize, I will just say that identifying beliefs is crucial when things in your life are not going the way you want to, and when you want to achieve new goals. Einstein once said: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results".
